P.S. Please forward the schedule below to your friends who want to know about our upcoming events.

1) "L.I.E." Movie Discussion & Screening at LGCC-KC
One of the most controversial and provocative films of 2001 had a limited run at the Tivoli in November. If you missed it, see it now. If you saw it, you know why we said that. The story about the relationship between a lost, gay youth just coming out and a pedophile masquerading as an upstanding citizen is equally disturbing and alarming. An open discussion led by Dr. Robert N. Minor follows. (Note: We will be showing a video tape screening copy of L.I.E. - running time is 101 minutes).
Thursday, December 27th at 7:00pm
Lesbian & Gay Community Center, 207 Westport Road, KCMO
No admission charge. Free soft drinks, coffee and popcorn.
Contributions are welcomed.

2) "CHOP SUEY" Opening Night Screening & Reception at the Tivoli
This new film by male erotica photographer Bruce Weber charts his personal discovery of a gorgeous young wrestler, Peter Johnson, and the hunk's susbsequent rise to a highly paid fashion model. The film also offers a look into Weber's world mixing fashion shoots, initimate celebrity parties, and personal reflections. Fans of homoerotic photography won't be disappointed, yet CHOP SUEY also satisfies as a fascinating look at the man behind the lens.

(Note: You have one week to see CHOP SUEY at the Tivoli, but only one night to see it and have a fabulous after party in support of the Festival!)

3) "HISTORY LESSONS" Screening & Reception at the Tivoli
Filmmaker Barbara Hammer looked back into film history to find evidence of lesbians, and what she found makes up one of the sassiest women's documentaries in a long, long while. Says PlanetOut.com: "Hammer took everything from newsreel footage, music, and vintage lesbian porn, and cut it into a hard-hitting, visually enchanting, highly fun art piece that makes you think every woman who walked down an American avenue was a dyke, a potential dyke, or just damned wished she could be a dyke". After the screening, stay for a Film Festival Coffeehouse Reception with special guests from local film, communications and women's studies programs.
Sunday, January 27, 2002 - 1:00pm
Tivoli Theatre at Manor Square

4) "YOU DON'T KNOW DICK." Movie Discussion & Screening at LGCC-KC
A fascinating look into the lives of transsexuals who have made some remarkable transitions in gender. The after discussion will be lead by members of Kansas City's transgender and transsexual community. Put aside what you think you know about the subject and learn more about what's it's really like for many in our area.
Wednesday, January 30th at 7:00pm
